Indians, both in India and the United States are unequivocally in favour of Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump in the US Presidential election, shows a HuffPost-CVoter survey.

In the US, the Indian voting behavior is consistent with other Asian groups. The survey asked 500 likely Indian-origin voters in the US who they planned to vote for, and 58% Indians said they were going to vote for Clinton. Only 29% said they were going to vote Trump. A previous survey had found only 7% Indian American voters supporting Trump.

However, support for Clinton was much higher among African Americans (90%), Hispanics (75%) and other Asians (72%).

Trump or Clinton? What India really wants from the US election

A sample size of 1,200 Indians in India was asked to choose between Hillary and Trump. Nearly half, or 49% respondents chose Clinton. Less than 27% chose Trump.

The two polls were conducted over the last four weeks.

Trump has reached out to Indian and especially Hindu voters, even saying in Hindi, 'Abki baar Trump sarkar'. Trump has also promised good relations between India and the US, saying, "I am a big fan of Hindu and I am a big fan of India".

In both India and the US, a small but vocal section of Indians have been supporting Trump. However, the HuffPost-CVoter poll clearly shows Indians supporting Trump are in minority.
