The film, which stars actor Fawad Khan, has become the target of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), an extreme right-wing political party, who have announced that they won't let any film featuring Pakistani artistes release in India.
Seeking to calm tempers over opposition to the release of his directorial venture, Johar on 18 October had made an appeal against stalling the release, saying he will not engage with talent from Pakistan in future.
But MNS had continued their protests as the party rejected Johar's statement.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma is scheduled to release on 28 October.
