Pakistan has captured an Indian soldier along the Kashmir border in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, Reuters reported, citing military officials in the two countries.

"It is confirmed one soldier from 37 Rashtriya Rifles with weapons has inadvertently crossed over to the Pakistan side of the Line of Control," an Indian army official in New Delhi told Reuters.

According to the Reuters report, two officials in Pakistan's Chhamb's sector said an armed Indian soldier was captured at 1330 local time on Thursday.

Earlier the day, Pakistan military had claimed that it had killed eight Indian soldiers and captured one while retaliating to India's strikes at the first line of defence at the Line of Control (LoC) at Tatta Pani, according to media reports.

Citing security sources, The Dawn newspaper said that the capture and killings occurred when the Indian army opened fire across the border, killing two Pakistani soldiers.

Indian Army sources, however, rejected the claim as "false and baseless" to PTI.
