The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association has announced a ban on Pakistan actors and technicians from working in India, ANI reported.

On Thursday, the IMPPA passed a "resolution" announcing the ban, which is expected to stay "until normalcy returns," according to ANI. The move follows Indian Army's 'surgical strikes' on militant targets in Pakistan.

There have been calls from certain right wing political outfits like the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) recently, to prohibit Pakistani artistes from working in India as tensions rise between the two countries in the wake of a militant attack in Uri that led to 18 army casualties.

HuffPost India earlier reported Pakistan actor Fawad Khan may not be returning to India for the premiere of his upcoming film "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" amid rising hostilities between the two countries.

Earlier on Thursday, the Indian Army today said it had conducted "surgical strikes" on Wednesday night on terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) to kill terrorists who were suspected to infiltrate into Indian territory.
