Early morning today, TV comedian Kapil Sharma sent out an angry tweet to Prime Minister Narendra Modi complaining about corruption in the state-run Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The first tweet was retweeted over 6,000 times. While the PM didn't respond to the tweet and it isn't yet clear if the PMO has reached out to Sharma to address his grievances, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis was quick to reply.

Sharma is one of the top comedians on Indian television with a wildly popular show that has become a must-visit for most celebs during their movie promotions.

On September 1, The Indian Express reported that Sharma charges Rs. 60 lacs per episode, making his earnings to a whopping 5 crore per month, a figure that exceeds what most Bollywood stars make.

Meanwhile, Manohar Pawar, head of the BMC's vigilance department has called a press conference at the BMC office in Mumbai, where he will be addressing the Kapil Sharma case.
