Sonam Kapoor, who gave an exceptionally heartfelt performance in this year's Neerja, has been signed up with United Talent Agency (UTA), a California-based talent agency with a strong presence in New York, London, Toronto, and Sweden, Deadline.com reported.
The Hollywood news portal described Sonam as a "social media powerhouse" and the report said that UTA will manage and represent the actress in all areas. So far, Sonam hasn't had an American agency repping her for international assignments, with UTA being the first to clinch the deal with the actress.
Recently, when HuffPost India met with the actress and asked her if she intends to follow Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone and look for work in the West, the actress had maintained a diplomatic stance, saying, "My competition is only with myself."
In all probability, Sonam was waiting for the announcement to come from the agency's end.
Some of UTA's top-level clients include Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Alicia Vikander, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo.
While Sonam hasn't featured in any international project (unless you count the video for the Coldplay song Hymm For The Weekend, in which she has a brief appearance), her father Anil Kapoor has acted in films like Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire, Brad Bird's Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, and a cameo in The Simpsons.
